greenTONE a cappella is an all-female contemporary a cappella group that lives life in Madison, WI. Singing as we navigate “life in the real world,” gT has devoted its vocal talents and contagious sense of fun to serving up pop, folk and jazz favorites, from doo-wop to hip-hop and beyond! Our aca-adventure began in the fall of 2007 when a few UW Tangled Up In Blue alums made up their minds to start a new group that would become one of the inaugural groups of CASA's Contemporary A cappella League, or CAL for short. Beginning its transition toward the end of 2015, CAL recently stepped forward to become its own non-profit organization, launching in January 2016, of which we are proudly 1 of about 40 charter groups that have helped get this new organization up and running!
Since that first fall, we have had the privilege of singing for a wide variety of events that include weddings, holiday parties, the National Anthem for sold-out Brewers Games at Miller Park, flash mobs for several local events, an annual charity-driven holiday concert series at Cave of the Mounds National Natural Landmark, summer concert events such as Make Music Madison and the annual Monroe Street Festival, private fundraisers and a whole lot more. While our commitment as members of this group is partly about friendship and a consistent chance to get together every week(a challenge to do when you have to be a grown-up most of the time), we are equally committed to living the acappella artform, learning and growing our musical capabilities, and inspiring others to start/keep on/never stop singing!
