Asumaya + Good Night Gold Dust

Asumaya is the one-man, multi-instrumental brainchild of Madison-based percussionist, Luke Bassuener, whose songs are constructed from layers of harmonies and poly-rhythms played live through a looping pedal. The music pulls from elements of post-punk, dub, world music and R&B, resulting in a genre-defying mix that makes heads spin and feet move.

As the singers and songwriters for Minnesota indie rock band Good Night Gold Dust, Laura Schultz and Colin Scharf are most often swirling in a moody wash of electric guitars, synthesizers, and electronic drum beats. Some evenings, though, they emerge from those electric layers with acoustic guitars in hand, and return these songs to their origins.
